How to Boost Fertility Naturally

Planning to start a family is an exciting journey, but it often comes with its challenges. Fortunately, there are natural ways to enhance fertility and increase the chances of conception. From adopting healthier lifestyle habits to addressing stress levels, couples can explore a range of practical tips to nurture their reproductive health and create the optimal conditions for pregnancy.

  1. A healthy diet with fruits (especially berries) and vegetables, less red meat and not trans fats (doughnuts, French pastries, fried foods). Use olive oil for cooking and salads. Avocados and nuts are also good sources of monounsaturated fat. Being overweight or significantly underweight can inhibit normal ovulation.
  2. Too much vigorous physical activity can inhibit ovulation and reduce production of the hormone progesterone. If you have a healthy weight and you’re thinking of becoming pregnant soon, consider limiting vigorous physical activity.
  3. Avoid working night-shift, if possible. Regularly working the night shift might put you at higher risk of infertility, possibly by affecting hormone production. If you do work the night shift, try to get enough sleep when you’re not working.
  4. Tobacco use is associated with lower fertility. Smoking ages your ovaries and depletes your eggs prematurely. If you smoke, ask your healthcare provider to help you quit.
  5. Limit the amount of alcohol you drink. Heavy drinking can increase the risk of ovulation disorders. If you’d like to get pregnant, consider avoiding alcohol completely. Abstain from drinking alcohol during conception and pregnancy. A safe level of fetal alcohol consumption hasn’t been established.
  6. More than 200 milligrams a day or caffeine should not affect female fertility. Consider limiting your caffeine intake to one or two 6-8 ounce cups of coffee a day. Recommendations 1-6 provided by the Mayo Clinic.
  7. Don’t take over-the-counter pain relievers containing Naproxen, Ibuprofen Diclofenac or Etoricoxib. They can cause a disruption in the menstrual cycle and lower levels of progesterone which may interfere in conception. (Source
  8. Monitor when you are ovulating. Consider using an ovulation strip like Clear Blue Ovulation Strips to identify your two (2) most fertile days to maximize your chances of getting pregnant naturally.
  9. Take Maternal Symmetry OB Multi-Vitamin as directed by Vitanica.
  10. Take Pregnancy Prep as directed by Vitanica.
  11. Drink Fertil-Tea by Wiseman Herbals.
  12. Use Pre-Seed Personal Lubricant by First Response, if needed. It is sperm friendly and provides a helpful environment to facilitate conception.
  13. You may order your own saliva and blood hormone test kits from ZRT Laboratory.
  14. Free hormone evaluations are available from Platt Wellness. They also have progesterone and compounded bioidentical hormone creams. Recommendations 9-14 by Dr. Jennifer Mercier, the founder of Mercier Therapy
  15. Plastics may cause infertility. Use BPA free plastic when used to contain food. (Source)
